Lyft has recently made a lot of headlines due to its ongoing push with Uber for ridesharing-friendly legislation, big fundraising effots, and its race to expand globally. Now, Lyft is going head-to-head with Uber Black with its newly-launched service, Lyft Premier.

On July 7th Lyft announced its new product Lyft Premier. This new line of service will provide the users with a high-end mathod of transportation, with vehicles such as BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Lexus ES, or Cadillac Escalade. This places the company into a better competitive plain and going head-to-head with Uber Black competing for the luxury market. The Lyft Premier service is still in its early stages and is going to be offered in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City for the time being until Lyft is able to scale it.

This lines up with their strategy of capturing the corporate travel market and now Lyft can provide its B2B connections with a luxury product. With Lift Premier, corporate travel will be better served and will provide the company’s clients with a top quality ride. It’s not anymore about getting from point A to point B, is more than that, it’s about getting there in style and comfort.

This new addition to the Lyft’s services may make them a more attractive company for a merger or acquisition. Lyft recently hired Qatalyst Parterns LP who, according to the Wall Street Journal, is a “boutique investment bank best known for helping tech companies find a buyer”.
